Care Instructions
Care Rituals: Preserving Your Pieces
Your Caelia piece was made to be worn, loved, and lived in. Like all things untamed, it interacts with the elements. Over time, your jewellery will develop its own unique patina—a map of the memories you have made while wearing it.
While we embrace the beauty of age and character, a few simple rituals will ensure your future heirlooms endure for generations to come.
The Metals: Silver & Gold
Sterling Silver | 9ct, 14ct & 18ct Gold
Precious metals are resilient, but they are not impervious.
- The Patina: Sterling silver naturally oxidizes over time when exposed to air and skin acidity. You may choose to embrace this darkening as part of the piece’s evolving character.
- The Restoration: To return the metal to its original gleam, polish gently with a specialised jewellery cloth. For deeper cleaning, soak in warm water with a mild, phosphate-free soap and gently brush with a soft toothbrush.
- The Elements: Avoid wearing your metals in chlorinated pools or hot springs, as harsh chemicals can accelerate tarnishing and alter the finish of the metal permanently.
The Veil: Gold Vermeil
Sterling Silver plated in heavy Gold
Gold Vermeil offers the golden warmth of the sun, but it requires a gentler touch. The layer of gold is a veil over the silver beneath; it is finite and precious.
- The Gentle Touch: Never use abrasive chemicals or polishing cloths on Vermeil, as this will strip the gold layer away. Clean only with a soft, dry cotton cloth.
- The Ritual: Apply perfumes, lotions, and hair products before putting on your Vermeil jewellery. Chemical agents are the enemy of the gold finish.
- The longevity: Vermeil is best suited for occasional wear. Constant friction against skin or other jewellery will eventually reveal the silver heart beneath.
The Earth: Diamonds, Sapphires & Gemstones
Hard stones & minerals
These stones were born from intense pressure and heat; they are survivors. However, even the hardest stones can be dulled by the accumulation of daily life.
- The Clarity: Oils from your skin, soaps, and moisturisers can create a film on your gemstones, dulling their fire.
- The Cleansing: Soak your stone-set pieces in warm, soapy water. Use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean behind the setting where dust and debris gather. Rinse well and pat dry.
- The Impact: While diamonds and sapphires are hard, they can still chip if struck at the right angle. Wear them with intention, but remove them during heavy lifting or rough work.
The Living: Pearls
Organic gems
Pearls are organic, living gems. They are porous and sensitive to their environment, requiring the most devotion.
- The Golden Rule: "Last on, first off." Pearls should be the final touch after your perfume and hairspray have settled, and the first thing removed when you return home.
- The Sensitivity: Never submerge pearls in water or expose them to harsh cleaners, as they can lose their luster.
- The Storage: Pearls need to breathe. Do not store them in airtight plastic bags. Keep them in a soft fabric pouch separate from other metals that might scratch their delicate nacre.
Resting Your Pieces
When not adorning you, your jewellery should rest in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Storing pieces individually prevents them from scratching one another.

Bespoke design
I. The Vision
It begins with a conversation. Whether you have a clear design in mind or just a vague sentiment, we discuss your aesthetic, your budget, and the story you wish to tell.
II. The Hunt
Once the design is sketched, the search begins. I scour my network of ethical suppliers to find the perfect stones, be it an Australian teal sapphire, a salt-and-pepper diamond, or a gem with a unique, smoky character.
III. The Bench
This is where the transformation happens. Using both modern techniques and the art of ancient craft, I carve, cast or forge your piece right here in Melbourne. It is a slow, intentional process that makes your piece undeniably yours.
IV. The Unearthing
Approximately 6 weeks later, the vision becomes reality. The metal has cooled, the stone is secure, and your future heirloom is ready to be worn, weathered, and loved.
